VR lounge boosts traffic at outlet center

February 12, 2018

Virtual-reality features are a popular way for retail centers to make shopping more fun and to encourage repeat visits.

At Dixie Outlet Mall, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Cominar REIT set up a virtual-reality adventure lounge last year to drive back-to-school shopping traffic.

The lounge offered the latest virtual-reality technology and gave visitors the opportunity to play a new themed game each week.

The feature helped the center achieve a nearly 1.5 percent year-on-year traffic increase during the back-to-school season.

This lounge also earned roughly 7 million unpaid media impressions from print and online publications.
