Report predicts strong 2018 retail sales

Retail sales will rise between 3.8 percent and 4.4 percent this year over 2017, on the back of robust consumer confidence and low unemployment, reports USA Today, citing numbers from the National Retail Federation. This follows the strongest holiday sales season since 2011, with sales up 4.9 percent over the 2016 holidays, according to Mastercard SpendingPulse.

If this projection is realized, it will better last year’s retail sales, which rose 3.9 percent, to $3.53 trillion, NRF reports.
