Developer Nakheel announced plans for what is to be the largest mall in the Middle East — in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Deira Mall, with 4.5 million square feet of gross leasable area, will offer 1,000 stores, cafés, restaurants and entertainment tenants, reports Gulf News. At present, Dubai Mall is the region’s largest, with nearly 3.8 million square feet of gross leasable area.
Deira Mall is to be built on the Deira Islands. Work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of this year, with completion set for 2021.
