Kohl’s to open Weight Watchers studio in Chicago store

January 29, 2019

Department-store chain Kohl’s is collaborating with WW International (formerly Weight Watchers) in a marketing push that involves a weight-loss studio inside at least one Kohl’s store, plus co-branded merchandise and services.

Kohl’s aims to create a pilot community space inside one of its stores in the Chicago area. The roughly 1,800-square-foot space will house wellness workshops for local WW members and is intended also as a curated WW space for Kohl’s shoppers and workers alike. “We want to encourage families to lead healthy and fulfilled lives, and a strategic partnership with WW provides the opportunity to further advocate for the health and well-being of Kohl’s customers and our associates,” said Kohl's CEO Michelle Gass in a press release.

Kohl's, for its part, is no less upbeat. “As we aim to become the world’s partner in wellness, we are continuously looking for ways to make wellness more accessible,” said WW President and CEO Mindy F. Grossman. “By collaborating with Kohl’s, we will give people new experiences and ways to engage with WW as we build our wellness ecosystem while getting access to unique products and tools to help them on their journey. We know the Kohl’s customer is also our customer, so offering our workshops through a WW Studio at Kohl’s is a new way for us to meet people where they are.”
