NEW YORK (May 22, 2018) – The ICSC Foundation held a successful annual benefit on Sunday, May 20, at RECon, the premier international retail real estate conference ICSC holds every year in Las Vegas. The ICSC Foundation Benefit ensures funding for the organization’s charitable arm, which invests in the future talent of the industry through scholarships, mentor programs, job assistance and more.
As the industry reinvents itself, ICSC responds and reimagines its events. One of the biggest changes involved the format of this fundraising event: This year ICSC Foundation went back to its roots, holding the benefit at the Fashion Show shopping center, in the Great Hall. Also invoking history in the new space, the theme was "The Roaring ‘20s."
Lauri Novick, president of the ICSC Foundation, thanked those in attendance. “We are deeply grateful to GGP, American Tower and all of our sponsors and contributors for making the ICSC Foundation Benefit such a phenomenal success," Novick said. "The foundation is fully invested in developing outstanding and diverse talent to drive the industry forward, and this benefit is critical in helping to reach our goal.”
Generous donations from the roughly 500 guests supported the benefit. GGP was the presenting sponsor, and the event was co-chaired by 11 notable industry CEOs, including ICSC’s 2017–2018 chairman, Kenneth Bernstein. James Maurin, of Stirling Properties, received the Philanthropic Leadership Award. The ICSC Foundation raised over $460,000. All funds go toward foundation initiatives.
