Simon unveils 250,000-sf Chicago outlets expansion

Simon opened the 250,000-sf expansion of Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora, Ill., on Aug. 27. The center, which originally opened in May 2004, is now 690,000 sf, the 9th largest outlet center in North America. The developer is also enhancing the original sections. Horizon’s Hartford project draws a rival: Simon P.O.

Simon filed zoning change documents with the town of Windsor Locks, Conn., in mid-August for its planned 350,000-sf Hartford Premium Outlets. The developer seeks to break ground in fall 2016 and open by holiday 2017. Macy’s opens first three off-price Backstage stores

Macy's opened the first three test stores of its Macy's Backstage off-price concept on Sept. 2 in metro New York City. The stores, each about 30,000 sf, are in  a former Loehmann's store in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn; the Queens Place shopping center in Elmhurst, Queens, and the Melville Mall in Huntington, Long Island. McArthurGlen and Nike promote youth fitness

McArthurGlen is hosting Nike Sports Days for children ages 7 to 15 at 10 of its Designer Outlets in six countries in a program that will run through Sept. 12. Professional trainers at Nike Factory Stores in the centers are providing a range of free tests and mini-classes in running, street dance and body workout for the kids. Jadwa will add outlets in Princes Quay conversion

The Saudi Arabian bank that owns Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull, Yorkshire, UK, is planning to convert the second floor of the mall to outlet tenancy.
