Simon breaks ground on Tampa outlet project

Simon broke ground today on Tampa Premium Outlets in Wesley Chapel, Fla. The targeted opening is October 2015 for the 441,000-sf project, which is at Interstate 75 and Florida State Road 56. The 57-acre site is 16 miles northeast of downtown Tampa, 80 miles west of Simon's two Orlando Premium Outlets and 50 miles north of Ellenton Premium Outlets.For further details see the... more >>


By the Numbers

The world’s 35 largest outlet centers – those that are 500,000 sf or bigger – are mostly found in North America. Twenty-five of the world’s largest are in the U.S., and three are in Canada. Two large outlet centers are in China and two more are in Australia. The 35 centers total more than 23 million sf, or about one-fourth of the world’s total outlet GLA of 96 million sf. Express accelerates its outlet rollout

The original 2014 plan for Express was to augment its fleet of more than 600 stores with a new division: Express Factory Outlet. The projection: 30 stores by yearend, and sales of $30 million. Four new tenants are in place for Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield (Mo.).
