Same-store sales at U.S. retailers surged by 7 percent year on year for the week ended Jan. 19, according to Econoday's Redbook. This is a 0.3 percent increase from the prior week's pace, but still significantly slower than the 9 percent growth recorded in late December.
Month-to-date sales against the prior month declined by 1.5 percent. Despite the slowdown from December’s frenzy, the week’s sales growth appears very favorable, according to Econoday’s experts.
