Retailers to open 2,250 U.S. stores this year, says report

March 14, 2019

Store closures tend to get the headlines, but more attention should be paid to the 2,000-plus store openings that have been announced this year.

Coresight Research has been tracking plans for the openings of some 2,250 stores this year, notes Fox Business. Among the retailers that are opening stores are Dollar General (set to open 975 stores), Dollar Tree (with 350), Aldi (130 this year and next), Ross Stores (100 units) and Ulta Beauty (80).

Ross Stores is opening 100 stores this year and says there is scope for 1,100 more

T.J.Maxx and Marshalls will open about 60 stores between them, notes the Fox Business report.

Sephora, for its part, says it plans to open 35 U.S. stores this year.
