NYDM preview: Beauty brands seek stores

November 14, 2018

Beauty is one of today’s hottest retail categories, especially among young shoppers.

Beauty products are a $46 billion industry that is expected to increase by 12 percent by 2020, and makeup makes up 17 percent of the cosmetic market, another number that is expected to continue to grow. And the cosmetic category is rife with hot brands seeking to grow sales and expand their customer base. These include Circumference, Nyx and WinkyLux, brands that will all be on hand at the 2018 New York Deal Making, December 4-6 at the Javits Center in New York City, as part of the Retail in Focus program.

Circumference

Circumference is a luxury brand of so-called guilt-free skincare products that are made ethically and without toxins. The company conserves water, cuts out extra packaging and refuses to test on animals.

Nyx Cosmetics

Nyx Cosmetics is an edgy makeup brand owned by giant Loreal and named after the Greek goddess of night. The brand’s young fans like its rich pigments and its motto: “Department store quality for drug store prices.”

Winky Lux

Winky Lux cosmetics are trendy, with innovative packaging that reflects the brand’s youthful, whimsical aesthetic. New products are churned out at a fast-fashion pace, unlike larger beauty brands. The company’s founders say this helps them stay on top of fads.

Retail in Focus will feature these emerging cosmetics brands and other digitally native brands from other merchandise sectors  that are moving to the next stage of their lifecycle by adding  physical retail footprints.

Learn more about these brands at ICSC's 2018 New York Deal Making, Dec. 4-6 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.
