Macy’s Inc. is to spend some $200 million on upgrading 50 of its stores across the U.S., under a program the company has dubbed Growth50.
The stores will get new lighting and flooring, fixed-up fitting rooms and restrooms, new merchandise assortments aligned with their respective markets, and expanded furniture and bedding departments, reports the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
Designated stores will get additional services, such as personal shopping and styling; pickup desks for merchandise ordered online; and an option enabling payment by smartphone
In addition, the designated stores will receive additional services, such as personal shopping and styling; pickup desks for online orders; and an option enabling payment by smartphone. Many of these Growth50 stores will offer food-and-beverage options too, including Macy’s Taste Bar, and Pinkberry, Potbelly and Starbucks, the newspaper reports.
Macy’s operates nearly 700 department stores across 44 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam, under the Macy’s and Bloomingdales banners, plus nearly 200 specialty stores, including Bloomingdale’s The Outlet, Bluemercury, Macy’s Backstage and Story.
