Discount supermarket chain Lidl announced plans to open 25 East Coast stores in the coming 12 months, which will help bring the Germany-based company's U.S. total to upwards of 100 by the end of 2020.
These stores are to open in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia by next spring. A list of the specific locations is available here.
“We are committed to long-term growth in the United States and always strive to locate in the most convenient locations for our shoppers”
"We are committed to long-term growth in the United States and always strive to locate in the most convenient locations for our shoppers," said Johannes Fieber, president and CEO of Lidl U.S., in a prepared statement. "These new stores are part of the next steps in our U.S. expansion. Over the next year, we are excited to introduce more customers to Lidl's award-winning quality, reliably low prices and convenient shopping experience."
The retailer is also closing two North Carolina stores.
