Troy, Ala.
Hobby Lobby and T.J.Maxx are to anchor a 130,000-square-foot retail center set to open by the end of 2021. Troy Messenger

Simi Valley, Calif.
Griffin Living, a California-based firm that develops and manages senior-living communities, has broken ground on VivaBella Simi Valley, an assisted-living and memory-care community. The project is unique among senior-living communities, being integrated into a shopping center. The 97,000-square-foot VivaBella will include about 100 residential units. The Griffin Plaza shopping center will consist of 93,000 square feet of retail space and some 20 retail tenants. The completion date for the entire development is late 2019. EIN Newsdesk

San Diego
The City Council voted unanimously to allow Stockdale Capital Partners to convert downtown’s Horton Plaza into The Campus at Horton, a mixed-use development that will relocate all shops to the ground floor, reducing the retail space by half, from 600,000 square feet to 300,000, and adding on 772,000 square feet of office space. Brentwood, Calif.
Fairbourne Properties seeks to build 320 apartments on a nearly 12-acre plot at the 359,000-square-foot, AMC-anchored Streets of Brentwood. The proposed mixed-use development would go up on the former site of an ice-skating rink and a Christmas tree lot. East Bay Times

Bradenton, Fla.
The 46-year-old, enclosed DeSoto Square Mall is to become a 60-acre mixed-use project with residences, a community park and less retail space. Herald-Tribune

Loveland, Colo.
The owner of the Colorado Eagles hockey team is planning a $500 million entertainment-themed project that is to include a Great Colorado Experience theme park designed by Disney consultant Ed Goodman. Coloradoan

Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Developers want to build a 25,000-square-foot retail center called Lake Buena Vista Springs, on 10 acres. Orange Observer

Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Oakland Properties wants to add a 12,600-square-foot retail building at the Walmart-anchored Market at Oakland. The Post and Courier
