In the pipeline: Who’s building what, where

Washington, D.C.
MRP is developing Bryant Street, a 13-acre site, as a residential-driven mixed-use community that will ultimately include 1,550 residential units and 245,000 square feet of retail. The new development will replace the former Rhode Island Avenue Shopping Center. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has signed on as one of the anchors. Popville

Alpharetta, Ga.
Jekyll Brewing, this Atlanta suburb’s first brewery, will lease a two-level space in the mixed-use Exchange Building at Alpharetta City Center. The space will be topped by a 2,500-square-foot deck. Curbed

Forsyth County, Ga.
Retail Planning Corp. will break ground next month on The Publix at Matt shopping center. The 48,500-square-foot Publix store, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2020, is to anchor an 82,000-square-foot retail plaza with a mix of restaurants and other businesses. Among the businesses signed on are AT&T, Great Clips and Nail Talk & Tan. Forsyth County News

Topeka, Kan.
Developers will spend about $18 million to redevelop the former Villa West Shopping Center as a 14-acre center to be called Sherwood Crossing. The Topeka Capitol-Journal

Buffalo Grove, Ill.
Developers plan to make over the Cambridge Commons shopping center to accommodate a 24 Hour Fitness spa in the 35,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Dominick's Pizza and Rogan's Shoes. Daily Herald

Springfield, Mass.
A marijuana distributor wants to move into the former Macy’s anchor store at Eastfield Mall. The 127,000-square-foot building, owned by Mountain Development, is currently leased to a multivendor weekend market. Mass Live

Bethesda, Md.
Regency Centers wants to add 500 residences and about 205,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space to its Westwood Shopping Center. Project plans include a park, a Giant supermarket and a five-story apartment building with ground-floor retail and underground parking. Later phases will include an additional 210 apartments and 34 town homes, as well as about 34,000 square feet of commercial space. Bethesda Magazine

Lincoln, Neb.
Developer Bill Langdon plans to add 47,000 square feet of commercial space to the 7-acre, Home Depot–anchored Willowbrook shopping center. Among the uses listed in a traffic study: a convenience store, a bank, some fast-food restaurants, a 17,000-square-foot store and a 15,000-square-foot strip mall. Lincoln Journal-Star

Brooklyn, N.Y.
Target will open a 90,000-square-foot store in the former Toys 'R' Us space at Caesar’s Bay Shopping Center. The expansive property is owned by Gazit Horizons, the North American subsidiary of Gazit Globe, a company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Brooklyn Reporter

New York City
Brookfield has hired Convene to build and operate a 73,000-square-foot, multiuse space at its Brookfield Place mixed-use center, in downtown Manhattan. This corporate and cultural events hub, which Convene will manage, is to comprise two large spaces, each with the capacity to seat up to 500. Globe Street
