ICSC Foundation Announces Academic Scholarship Winners & Community Support Awards at RECon

May 22, 2018

NEW YORK (May 22, 2018) – The ICSC Foundation presented scholarships to students and awards to industry professionals who demonstrate dedication to the retail real estate industry and the communities it serves. The recipients were honored during RECon, the premier international retail real estate conference ICSC holds annually in Las Vegas.

Following its mission to identify, attract, and develop exceptional and diverse talent to become the next generation of leaders, the ICSC Foundation has recognized the following 11 ICSC student members who have exercised determined commitment to furthering their professional development. In addition to a monetary award, all scholarship recipients received an all-expense paid trip to RECon (or a regional ICSC conference), a pairing with an industry mentor, free ICSC student membership, and other valuable support services.

Undergraduate

  • Alice Schweiger, UCLA, recipient of the ICSC Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship
  • Simrandeep “Sam” Sandhu, University of Texas at Austin, recipient of the Federal Realty Undergraduate Diversity Scholarship
  • Kalayah Sargeant, Florida State University, recipient of the Schurgin Family Foundation Scholarship
  • Jacob Nerenberg, Rutgers University- New Brunswick, recipient of the Schurgin Family Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship

In addition to supporting scholastic goals, the ICSC Foundation hosts the Community Support Awards program, which recognizes that shopping centers play an integral role to the public, civic and economic vibrancy to the communities they serve. The Awards highlight and encourage the communal aspect of the industry, showcasing the country’s premier examples of corporate social responsibility and community outreach conducted by shopping centers, their management companies and developers.
