Amazon.com is planning to open six more of its cashier-free Amazon Go convenience stores this year, according to Recode.
Most are likely to open in Amazon’s hometown of Seattle, where the first location opened to the public last month. Los Angeles is another likely target.
Amazon Go uses the online retailer's "just walk out" technology to let shoppers scan their phones as they enter the store, grab items off a shelf, and then get the correct amount charged automatically to the phone as they exit, with no need to stop at a cash register to pay.
