ICSC presents 1999 Maple Leaf Awards


In an ongoing effort to honor outstanding achievement in shopping center development, marketing and retail store design in Canada, ICSC presented its Canadian Shopping Centre Awards Sept. 9 at the Royal York Hotel. The ceremony was held in conjunction with its annual Canadian Convention, which was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. A list of the award recipients follows:

 

Development Maple Leaf Winners:
Renovation or Expansion of an Existing Center

300,001 to 500,000 square feet: Aberdeen Mall, Cadillac Fairview Corp.

Over 500,000 square feet: Metropolis-Eaton Centre Metrotown, Cambridge Shopping Centres.

Innovative Design & Construction of a new centre, nonenclosed retail development: Terra Nova Village Shopping Centre, Westbank Projects Corp.

 

Marketing Maple Leaf Award Winners:

Community Service

Under 150,000 square feet: 12 Days of Wishes, BCE Place.;
150,001 square feet to 400,000 square feet: Festival of Light, Village Green Mall;
400,001 square feet to 750,000 square feet: Random Acts of Kindness, Quinte Mall;
750,001 square feet to 1 million square feet: The Zajac Loonie Tower, Pacific Centre.

Public Relations

400,001 square feet to 750,000 square feet: Orchard Park Holiday Elves, Orchard Park Shopping Centre;
over 1 million square feet: Park for Perks, Scarborough Town Centre.

Consumer Advertising

400,001 square feet to 750,000 square feet: Stand Out, Resist the Ordinary, Dufferin Mall;

Merchandising/Sales Promotion
