Lurie Silberg has joined Shopping Centers Today as managing editor, reporting to Editor Debra Hazel.

She will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of Shopping Centers Today, supervising the editorial staff and working with Hazel on the overall direction of the monthly magazine and affiliated publications.

Silberg brings 11 years of journalism experience to Shopping Centers Today. Most recently, she was with Fairchild Publications as retail editor of Home Furnishings News, a retail trade publication covering the home furnishings industry.

Silberg started at HFN in 1992 as a reporter covering telecommunications for the consumer electronics section of the publication. A year later, she was promoted to senior editor and was responsible for creating the publication's first telecommunications section. She was later named managing editor of the consumer electronics section, and then group editor, before becoming retail editor in 1997.

Prior to joining Fairchild, Silberg was a reporter and managing editor for several newspapers in a chain of weekly papers in New Jersey. She also was features editor for the Elizabeth Daily Journal, a daily paper based in Elizabeth, N.J.

"I am delighted to have Lurie as my partner in leading our team," Hazel said. "Her strong news background, writing and editing skills, knowledge of retail and ability to work with people will be among SCT's strongest assets as we continue to provide the shopping center industry with the information they need to maximize their business."
