EL POLLO LOCO

Irvine, Calif.-based El Pollo Loco has named Brian Berkhausen vice president of development, overseeing the real estate, construction and franchise development of the restaurant chain. Berkhausen previously led market team operations and systems for Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins and TOGOs.

THE MACERICH CO.

The Macerich Co. has promoted David J. Contis, previously senior vice president of operations, to COO. Dana Anderson, who had held the position, is now vice chairman of the board. Prior to joining Macerich in May 1997, Mr. Contis had been COO of Equity Properties & Development, Chicago.

GOODMAN SEGAR HOGAN HOFFLER GVA

John K. Hutcheson has been named CFO of Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler GVA, Norfolk, Va. He previously served in the same post for Evergreen Development Co. LLC., Gloucester, Va.

The firm also has named Mark S. Sarrett as director of property accounting. He formerly served as a technology consultant for a purchasing consortium for public schools.

MADISON MARQUETTE REALTY SERVICES

Minneapolis-based Madison Marquette Realty Services has named Virginia Moulton property manager for its Bell Tower Shops in Fort Myers, Fla. She also will remain marketing director for the center.

RANDALLS FOOD MARKETS

Houston-based Randalls Food Markets Inc. has named Frank Lazaran senior vice president of sales and merchandising. Previously, Mr. Lazaran served as group vice president for Ralphs Grocery Co., Los Angeles.

W.J. WHATLEY INC.

Michael P. Humenik has joined Commerce City, Colo.-based W.J. Whatley Inc. as a sales manager. Mr. Humenik will serve the Eastern states for Whatley, a leading manufacturer of ornamental lighting poles and lamp posts. Whatley also hired Ellen Y. Soden as marketing communications manager.

REALTY RESOURCES NETWORK

Steven L. Karas was elected president of Realty Resources, and began his term Jan. 1 for the nationwide network of commercial real estate brokers based in Virginia Beach, Va. Mr. Karas is president and co-founder of Ludwig and Karas Inc., a diversified real estate firm based in Farmington Hills, Mich.

BARNES & NOBLE

Barnes & Noble Inc. has promoted Stephen Riggio to vice chairman, and named J. Alan Kahn to the position of COO. Mr. Riggio, formerly COO, will focus on strategic and long-range initiatives. In his new role, Mr. Kahn will oversee publishing, mail order, distribution and the Internet. Mr. Kahn was most recently CEO for Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, an affiliate of the New York-based bookseller and publisher.

CB COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE GROUP INC.

Peter Moersch has joined Los Angeles-based CB Commercial's South Orange County office in Laguna Hills, Calif. as a senior associate in the retail specialty division. Mr. Moersch has more than 14 years of experience in retail development, most recently with Koll Retail Group, Newport Beach, Calif.

CB also named Robert E. Smith managing officer of the San Gabriel Valley office in City of Industry, Calif. Mr. Smith will retain his position as functional manager for CB's Los Angeles Metro Region specialty division.

FRCH DESIGN WORLDWIDE

Brett Kratzer has been appointed vice president and principal of the architectural studio in FRCH Design Worldwide's Cincinnati office. Mr. Katzer returned to FRCH after a brief hiatus in the Seattle office of DLR, an architectural/engineering firm.

THE WINTER CONSTRUCTION CO.

Atlanta-based Winter Construction Co. has promoted Tom Nichols to retail group manager. Mr. Nichols will be responsible for day to day project management as well as maintaining client relationships. Previously, Mr. Nichols served as a project manager.

THE HUTENSKY GROUP

Dianne Noth has been named vice president of property operations and Jeffery L. Johnson vice president of business research and development for The Hutensky Group, a Hartford, Conn.-based property management firm.

Ms. Noth, responsible for property management, accounting and marketing, joined Hutensky from The Taubman Co., where she served as general manager of the Westfarms shopping center in West Hartford, Conn. Mr. Johnson, formerly Hutensky's director of special projects, manages the company's business development, strategic planning and real estate market research activities.

ANGELICA CORP.

Don W. Hubble has been named chairman, president and CEO of Angelica Corp., St. Louis. Mr. Hubble was most recently president and COO of National Service Industries, an Atlanta-based manufacturing and services company. Angelica provides textile rental and laundry services to health care institutions, manufactures and markets uniforms for institutions and businesses, and operates a national chain of uniform and shoe stores.

THE GREENBERG GROUP, INC.

Sheri Inkeles has joined The Greenberg Group, Hewlett, N.Y., as senior vice president, specialty leasing group. Previously, Ms. Inkeles was a leasing director for Corporate Property Investors and Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Sheldon Pont has been named director, corporate services/retail for the Eastern Division of Grubb & Ellis. Mr. Pont will work out of the New York office of the Northbrook, Ill.-based commercial real estate fir. He will be responsible for procuring new business relationships with national retailers in the East. Most recently, Mr. Pont served as director of real estate for Sbarro, Inc., the New York-based franchiser of more than 800 restaurants.

NOMURA CAPITAL

Nomura Capital, New York, has promoted Chuck Rosenzweig to managing director and made him sole head of the firm's Eastern Region. Since joining Nomura in 1994, Mr. Rosenzweig and his finance team have closed in excess of $1.75 billion in real estate transactions including first mortgages, mezzanine financing, senior equity investments, convertible debt and participating mortgages.

TRIAD RESEARCH & CONSULTING, INC.

Warren Hershkowitz has joined the Tampa, Fla. firm of TRIAD Research & Consulting as a senior vice president. Mr. Hershkowitz will be responsible for managing the firm's c commercial real estate research and consulting services. Prior to joining TRIAD, Mr. Hershkowitz was director of market research for Grubb & Ellis of Florida.

Tim C. Gilmore, CLS, vice president of leasing for General Growth Management, Chicago, has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation by the Commercial Real Estate Institute. Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners in the United States, only 5,200 currently hold the CCIM designation.
