ICSC announces latest CSMs, CMDs

ICSC has inducted more professionals into the ranks of Certified Shopping Center Managers (CSMs) and Certified Marketing Directors (CMDs). Candidates must pass a qualifying exam and have four years experience as shopping center managers or marketing directors.

Those sitting for the CSM exam answer questions about operations and construction, leasing, center accounting, retailing and merchandising, and a range of other subjects. The CMD exam includes questions on marketing plans, product development and center merchandising, media planning, and internal and external communications.

The first CSM exam took place in 1964, and the CMD designation was introduced in 1971.
