GLOBE’S RETAIL PROS TO GATHER AT WORLD SUMMIT

A high-powered lineup of speakers at ICSC’s 2005 Retail Real Estate World Summit, to be held April 20-22, 2005, in Istanbul, Turkey, will include Dr. Bernard Koucher, co-founder of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, and H. Lee Scott, president and CEO of Wal-Mart.

The meeting is only the fourth Retail Real Estate World Summit in the association’s history, combining the 30th annual ICSC European Conference, the 13th annual ICSC Asia-Pacific Conference, the ninth annual Turkish Council of Shopping Centres and Retailers Conference, and the 11th annual Middle East Council of Shopping Centres Conference.

Senior-level property, retail and investment executives from all over the globe will meet to look beyond the retail real estate industry’s profit picture toward the vital role shopping centers play in raising living standards throughout the world.

“Across the planet, shopping centers allow people to gather the necessities of life they need and want in a safe, comfortable, convenient and enjoyable environment,” said ICSC President Michael P. Kercheval. “Just as better hospitals and better schools make for better health and better education, better shopping centers are indispensable for a better quality of life.”
