Sherman Oaks Galleria, once the symbol of San Fernando Valley culture and the backdrop for the movies “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Valley Girl,” has re-emerged as an open-air, upscale destination: Its Cheesecake Factory is reporting waits of two hours or more every night. And, with a 16-screen stadium seating megaplex that opened in early November, Sherman Oaks Galleria is now showing movies, not just appearing in them. … Big Boy Restaurants has unveiled a new concept, Big Boy Original “At the Movies,” at the Star Southfield (Mich.) Entertainment Centre. The concept will serve most of the same fare as typical Big Boy locations, but will be located only near theaters. … England’s Hamley’s toy retailer compiled its annual list of top 10 toys for the holiday season, which this year was topped by the Harry Potter paraphernalia inspired by the popular J.K. Rowling books. … A recent survey of 1,000 people under the age of 60 completed by online luggage retailer 123bags.com found that 52 percent of women would rather shop than make love. It found 93 percent of men prefer sex to shopping. … A London company called Q4u provides shoppers, for £20 an hour, someone to stand in line for them.
