2000 Canadian Shopping Centre Awards

TORONTO - ICSC recognized excellence in the Canadian shopping center industry with the ICSC 2000 Awards presented Oct. 5 at the John Bassett Theatre, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, in conjunction with the annual Canadian Convention. In a ceremony titled, “Insight, Innovation and Achievement,” recipients were honored in the following categories:

Outlet Show Planned

A conference focusing exclusively on factory outlet retailing, one of the fastest-growing retail sectors in Europe, is being planned by ICSC for 2001.

The conference, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from June 12-14, will be sponsored by Value Retail News, and will include informational seminars and a trade exhibition.

The conference program committee includes: Co-chairmen Hans Dobke, managing director of Outlet Centres International; and Jay Radway, head of corporate communications for BAA McArthur Glen, along with other leading developers.

“Outlet retailing is one the fastest-growing retail segments in Europe,’’ said Christopher Igwe, managing director of ICSC’s European Operations.
