Laurence C. Siegel stepped down as CEO of The Mills Corp. Mark S. Ordan, the firm’s COO since March and a longtime board member, succeeds him. Siegel will continue to serve as nonexecutive chairman of the board. “Larry’s vision and energy have helped The Mills build a unique portfolio of assets, and everyone at the company is pleased that we will benefit from his continued involvement on the board of directors,” said Ordan, in a press release. “I look forward to leading The Mills as we pursue the sale of part or all of the company.” • Karen A. Wagner is the new mall manager at Palm Springs (Calif.) Mall, hired by Coreland Cos., Tustin, Calif., which manages the mall. Wagner was assistant general manager and marketing manager for The River at Rancho Mirage (Calif.). • Washington, D.C.-based Combined Properties has named Kurt Meeske vice president of East Coast construction. He was vice president of development and construction at Prime Retail, Baltimore. • Harkins Theatres promoted Mike Bowers to president and COO. He will oversee day-to-day operations as a whole and guide the company through its expansion out West. Bowers began his career with Mann Theatres in 1986 before joining Harkins in 1993 as a district manager. In 1996 he was promoted to vice president in charge of Harkins’ West division, new real estate ventures, guest services, information technology, human resources, facilities, engineering and legal affairs. • Garrick-Aug Associates Store Leasing, a New York City retail brokerage firm, has folded now that founder Charles Aug is dead at 68. Aug suffered from a rare bone disease. • Rockville, Md.-based Federal Realty hired Gwen MacKenzie as senior director of acquisitions for the West Coast. MacKenzie, who was vice president of retail investments at brokerage firm Sperry Van Ness, will be based in Los Angeles. • Allen Kaplan, who left New England Development to work for Simon in 1999, is returning to the Newton, Mass.-based firm’s senior management and leasing team as a leasing consultant. He was senior vice president of leasing at Simon. • Stephen H. Mauldin joined Charlotte, N.C.-based development firm Crosland as senior vice president of mixed and multiuse development. In this newly created position, Mauldin is responsible for strategic planning of Crosland’s mixed-use and multiuse initiatives in the Charlotte region. He was a partner at Crutchfield Capital, a private equity investment firm based in Houston. • Forest City appointed Tanalee Storm, David Boyza and Rachael Stiedemann to posts at its Northfield Stapleton project in Denver. The three will be, respectively, specialty leasing manager, assistant general manager and marketing coordinator. • Sports Authority named Steve Jackson senior vice president of real estate. Jackson was employed at PetsMart and, before that, at Circuit City. • NRDC Equity Partners, Purchase, N.Y., hired Christina Johnson as partner and managing director of retail and consumer investments. She was president and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue from 2000 until 2003 and was the first woman ever to hold those posts at Saks. • Tampa, Fla.-based RMC Property Group hired Michael Chlebovec as senior vice president of operations. Chlebovec was director of asset management for supermarket chain Winn-Dixie and has also worked for Konover Property Trust. • La Jolla, Calif.-based development firm C.W. Clark hired Romik Kesian as COO. He was the regional director for special projects with the Los Angeles Unified School District. • North Plainfield, N.J.-based Levin Management promoted Robert Carson, CSM, to executive vice president. Carson, who joined Levin in 1992, has worked for Hartz Mountain Industries and the Edward J. DeBartolo Corp. • Seth Johnson resigned as CEO of Pacific Sunwear of California after little more than a year on the job. Sally Kasaks, lead director of the teen apparel retailer’s board of directors, will serve as interim CEO while a replacement is sought. • Norwalk, Conn.-based development firm Stanley M. Seligson promoted Douglas T. Adams to vice president of development. Adams was an equity lender at CIG International.
