Simon Property Group hired Julie Kelly as director of mall marketing for its Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, Calif. Regency Centers, Jacksonville, Fla., promoted Brian Smith to chief investment officer. WP Realty, based in Jenkintown, Pa., named Ed Opall CFO and vice president. Combined Properties, Washington, D.C., hired Lew Caulk as vice president of construction and Tom Cleys as senior director of development. Miami-based Continental Real Estate Cos. promoted Nick Limner to COO. The company also hired Sergio Perez as director of asset services. Passco Real Estate Enterprises, Irvine, Calif., recruited Todd Siegel as asset manager of its regional malls. Jonathan M. Cohen joined Alrose Group, a New York City-based shopping center investment firm, as director of commercial services. Sears Holdings appointed Aylwin Lewis CEO. Lewis was CEO of Kmart. Sears Holdings Corp. named Julie Younglove-Webb senior vice president and general manager of Sears Essentials and Sears Grand, two of the retailer’s new off-mall concepts. Younglove-Webb was previously vice president of space planning for Kmart. Barneys New York promoted Julie Gilhart to senior vice president and women’s fashion director. Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Montvale, N.J., appointed Christian Haub executive chairman. Haub was chairman and CEO. Eric Claus, formerly president of A&P Canada, was named CEO. MCG Architecture, Pasadena, Calif., recruited Daniel Shapero as director of design. The Dallas-based Staubach Co. hired Don Tepman as vice president of investment properties for the Northwest region. New York City-based JPMorgan Property Exchange hired Michelle Allan as vice president of business development for New York and the Southeast. Wal-Mart Stores promoted two executives to vice chairman and swapped their duties. Mike Duke, head of domestic stores, will switch over to lead the international division, while John Menzer, chief of international stores, will become head of the domestic units. Plymouth, Minn.-based Christopher & Banks extended the contract of its president and COO, Joseph Pennington, who will stay with the clothing retailer full time through next August and then work part time through February 2008. Ralph Neal, executive vice president of store operations, has also been retained. He will work full time through April 30 and then switch to part time through February 2007. Faison Enterprises, a Winter Park, Fla., real estate development firm, recruited Philip Greenwald as managing director for retail development in north Florida. Joseph D. Reed joined Next Realty, a Northfield, Ill.-based brokerage and investment firm, as a principal. Jewelry retailing veteran Beryl Raff quit her job as CEO of Whitehall Jewelers before even starting. Raff, a former CEO of Zale Corp. and senior vice president of fine jewelry for J.C. Penney Corp., had originally planned to start work for the Chicago-based company in mid-September. But just before her first day, Raff sent a letter to Whitehall’s board of directors declaring her resignation. She agreed to pay back the incentive fees the troubled retailer had given her to take the job. Charles D. Brecker joined the real estate practice at Stearns, Weaver, Miller, Weissler, Alhadeff & Sitterson’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office. Saks Inc. named Michael Archbold, the former CFO of AutoZone, as chief financial and administrative officer of its Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises business segment. The Container Store promoted former senior merchandise director Peggy Doughty to vice president of visual merchandising.
