STAUBACH ACQUIRES STAKES IN BUXTON AND DAVACO

The Staubach Co., Dallas, has partnered with and purchased minority stakes in two Texas retail services companies: The Buxton Co., Fort Worth; and Davaco, Dallas. These companies will be working with Staubach’s retail branch, Staubach Retail Services, which has been expanded to take part in all stages of retail development, from site acquisition to fixture installation, the company said. Staubach clients include Circuit City, Old Navy and Target.

COWBOYS OPEN PRO SHOP IN RIDGMAR

The Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop has opened in Fort Worth’s Ridgmar lifestyle center, making it the 17th retail store that the Cowboys football team has opened. The store features Cowboys collectibles, T-shirts, sports equipment and other items.

DEVELOPERS PLAN SUPER-REGIONAL CENTER IN BEE CAVE, NEAR AUSTIN

Three developers are planning a 1.35 million-square-foot super-regional center in Bee Cave, Texas, about 10 miles west of Austin, with the first phase scheduled to open in 2005. The partners are Forest City Enterprises, Cleveland; International Development Management, Austin; and Lincoln Property Co., Dallas. Additional plans for the development include a cinema, a five-story hotel and 500,000 square feet of office space.

REGENCY BREAKS GROUND FOR FRISCO CENTER

Regency Centers, Jacksonville, Fla., has broken ground on a 100,000-square-foot grocery-anchored center in Frisco, Texas, at the Dallas metropolitan area’s northern end. The center, which is scheduled for completion in October 2003, will be anchored by an Albertsons grocery store. Regency announced that it may further expand the center after it opens.

SIMON PLANS CENTER IN GARLAND

Simon Property Group has planned a 1 million-square-foot, regional open-air town center for Garland, Texas, in the northeast Dallas metropolitan area. Dillard’s and Foley’s department stores have signed leases for the property, on which construction should begin in early 2003. Simon also plans to add office space to the development.

COYOTE RENOVATES SIKES SENTER

Coyote Management, Addison, Texas, has renovated its 667,000-square-foot Sikes Senter, Wichita Falls, Texas. Coyote updated the mall’s logo, remade interior and exterior entrances, and added skylights. Coyote purchased the mall in 1999. Omni Architects, Dallas, designed the renovation.

TRADEMARK PLANS MULTIUSE PROJECT IN NORTH AUSTIN

Trademark, Fort Worth, Texas, plans to build 900,000 square feet of retail space for a mixed-use project in North Austin, Texas. The development, called The Commons at La Frontera, will also have 300,000 square feet of office space and a Marriott hotel. Nelsen Architects, Austin, is designing the project.

D&D PLANS TO BUILD WACO CENTER

D&D Financial, Dallas, plans to build Central Texas Marketplace in the Waco, Texas, area. The mixed-use development is still in the preliminary stages, but early plans indicate it could be as large as 1 million square feet and feature a hotel and conference center.

RETAIL-HEAVY MIXED-USE PROJECT SLATED FOR SAN ANTONIO

Worth Enterprises, a San Antonio-based developer of commercial properties, is teaming up with CBL & Associates to develop North Rim Market, a mixed-use project that will feature up to 1.9 million square feet of retail space. Tentatively named the Shops at North Rim, the retail portion will contain a power center and an open-air retail component. CBL & Associates will lease the retail portion, for which a spring 2003 groundbreaking is slated, said Jim Bastoni, president and CEO of Worth Enterprises. Worth Enterprises expects Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World to occupy about 130,000 square feet of the retail portion center. The developer expects all of North Rim Market to be completed in five to 10 years.
