SIMON STARTS PROGRAMS FOR TEENS, WOMEN

Simon Property Group is targeting teens and women in two separate marketing campaigns it launched in August.

The firm’s business-to-consumer arm, Simon Brand Ventures, is organizing mall concerts and appearances by up-and-coming musicians for teens through its Simon DTour Live program. Besides the concerts, there will be events and activities co-sponsored by Coca-Cola, Elle magazine and Visa Buxx, the prepaid Visa card.

For women, Simon Brand Ventures is launching a Simon Mall for You tour, bringing products and information about fashion and relaxation to malls across the country.

“Teens and women are obviously vitally important segments,” said Stewart A. Stockdale, Simon’s chief marketing officer and president of Simon Brand Ventures, in a news release. “Teens visit Simon malls an average of nearly five times per month … and women make up over 60 percent of Simon’s shopper base.”

The Simon DTour Live program, which was launched last month in New York City and runs through Oct. 16, will visit major Simon malls across the country.

The Simon Mall for You program got started in Boston on Aug. 20 and winds up in Orange County, Calif., on Oct. 24.
