IN BRIEF

Forest City, JCI

Forest City Enterprises and JCI Development are at work on the 750,000-square-foot, open-air Saddle Rock Village, in the Denver suburb of Aurora. They plan to start opening the Target-anchored center in March of next year. Forest City is also building projects in the Denver suburbs of Stapleton and Westminster.

Mills

The Mills Corp. cleared an important hurdle in its development of a 750,000-square-foot value megamall in South Tewksbury, Mass., about 22 miles northwest of Boston. The local zoning authorities approved the project, which would be Mills’ first in Massachusetts but it still needs state and federal permission.

CBL

Dick’s Sporting Goods is opening a 45,000-square-foot store at CBL & Associates’ The Lakes Mall, in Muskegon, Mich. The unit is scheduled to open at the 645,660-square-foot mall by year-end.

Edens & Avant

Edens & Avant opened the 96,239-square-foot Giant Food-anchored Marketplace at Potomac Station, Leesburg, Va., in the Washington, D.C., area. Edens & Avant owns 220 centers on the East Coast.

THF

St. Louis-based THF Realty razed the 740,000-square-foot Greengate Mall, in the Pittsburgh suburb of Hempfield Township. In its place the firm is putting up Greengate Center, a Wal-Mart-anchored development with 325,000 square feet of retail. Greengate Center’s opening is set for sometime next year.

RMC

RMC Property Group is building a 45,000-square-foot Publix to anchor Beachway Plaza, Bradenton, Fla. The center, which was formerly anchored by Winn-Dixie, is located about 50 miles south of Tampa, where RMC is based. The firm expects to finish work by November.
