SCHOIFET NAMED PUBLISHER OF SCT

Mark J. Schoifet has been named publisher of Shopping Centers Today, ICSC Senior Staff Vice President Jay Starr announced in July.
Schoifet had been serving as associate publisher and editorial director for the past year and a half. He will continue to report to Starr, who assumes the position of group publisher of SCT and ICSC’s other monthly magazine, Value Retail News.
Schoifet, 46, began his career at ICSC in 1987 when he was hired as the magazine’s first managing editor. He has assumed various positions at ICSC since then, including editor of SCT and director of communications and media relations, a position he held from 1994 to 1998.
In his new role, Schoifet will supervise the advertising sales staff and oversee ICSC’s new international periodicals, including the newly launched SCT Latinoamerica, ICSC’s first Spanish-language magazine. He will continue to serve as editorial director of SCT, working closely with Lurie Silberg Silverman, the acting editor.
“Mark has been instrumental in the creation of several new publications for members of ICSC, especially SCT Xtra and SCT Newswire on the Web,” Starr said. “He is one of the few business magazine publishers to come from the editorial side. His understanding of that part of the business will be an attribute in his new role as publisher.”
