CBL & Associates Properties promoted Michael I. Lebovitz to chief development officer from senior vice president of mall projects. Lebovitz, the son of Chairman and CEO Charles B. Lebovitz and the brother of Stephen D. Lebovitz, the firm’s president, will direct the building of new malls and open-air and mixed-use centers as well as the renovation and expansion of existing properties. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL also created a leasing group under the oversight of John Waller, who was named vice president of development leasing. Jan Wills was promoted to Waller’s previous role as vice president of mall leasing. Tommy Bahama named Patricia VanCleave president of Tommy Bahama Retail. She was president of Torrid, a division of specialty retailer Hot Topic. Forest City Commercial Development recruited Vince Corno as vice president of development. Corno was senior vice president at St. Louis-based May Realty. Cleveland-based Forest City also promoted Douglas Solomon to vice president of the East Coast region, from real estate manager. Tim Kushner joined Simon Property Group’s community and lifestyle center development team as regional vice president of development for the Eastern region. Kushner was the Midwest development partner at Indianapolis-based Sandor Development. Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Gershenson Realty & Investment, led by brothers Bruce, Richard and Joel Gershenson, joined with Kirco, of Troy, Mich., headed by Alan Kiriluk and his son Matt, in a development venture called Gershenson Kirco. The venture plans to develop several mixed-use projects, predominantly in Michigan. Kroger named Carver Johnson chief diversity officer. In this newly created post, Johnson will oversee the representation of a range of ethnic groups among new hires and supplier firms. He was the Cincinnati-based supermarket chain’s group vice president of management information systems .
