NEXT STEP: FACTORY OUTLETS

The retail portion of Los Atrios will be located on a curving, two-level promenade.

In yet another sign of the increasing maturity of the Mexican retail market, plans have been announced for a high-end factory outlet center: Punta Norte Premium Outlets, the country’s first factory outlet.

The project is a co-development of local architect/developer Grupo Sordo Madaleno, private developer Carlos Peralta and Roseland, N.J.-based Chelsea Property Group.

The joint venture, known as Premium Outlets de Mexico, will build a 200,000-square-foot initial phase in the northwest section of Mexico City.

Punta Norte could be the first of several centers for the group, its developers say.

The outlet project will be designed to appeal both to visitors and the substantial number of residents in its market.
