LEGAL NEWSLETTER LAUNCHED

As the issues facing the shopping center industry — such as the changing role of e-tail, the pending reform of bankruptcy laws, changes in environmental regulations and the ever-tricky business of lease writing — continue to evolve, the law has become central to the success of the developer.

ICSC’s latest publication, Retail Law Strategist, is designed as an information tool to help retail lawyers with the day-to-day issues they face.

The monthly newsletter made its debut in March, and features articles written by some of the industry’s leading attorneys. It also answers questions submitted to ICSC’s legal department, and offers news about pending legislation and lobbying activities in Washington, D.C.

"When looking at the market for legal publications, we felt that there was a market for a publication that gave practical advice on retail law,’’ ICSC Vice President and General Counsel Edward J. Sack said. "It’s not going to have the lengthy analysis you’d find in a law journal. It will have shorter articles of very practical significance.’’

The editor in chief is Stephanie McEvily, whose experience in the shopping center industry includes a stint editing ICSC’s quarterly Legal Update. The newsletter costs $149 for ICSC members and $179 for nonmembers for up to three one-year subscriptions. For subscriptions, please call (646) 784-2000.
