FOUR CENTERS WIN ICSC JEAN-LOUIS SOLAL AWARD

LONDON — Four European shopping centers received the coveted ICSC Jean-Louis Solal Award this year, and several others were recognized with merit awards. The Solal Awards, named after the visionary French developer Jean-Louis Solal, a founder of ICSC Europe, provide professional recognition for creative marketing campaigns.

“In increasingly competitive times marketing is a key element in the differentiation of a successful shopping center,” said Eileen Connolly, chairwoman of this year’s jury. “Being part of the community and contributing to the social and economic fabric of local life is also highly relevant.” Connolly is director of retail marketing at Donaldsons, a London-based property consulting firm.

In keeping with the strict judging criteria, the jury exercised the right not to recognize entries failing to meet minimum requirements, while giving more than one award to those entries exceeding the standard.

There were entries in all categories, with sales promotion and community relations being the most popular. The grand-opening category was also well supported.
