Park Place, Sacramento, Calif.

Donahue Schriber and Lennar Communities opened Park Place, a neighborhood shopping center in Natomas Park, a Sacramento, Calif., mixed-use community development. A 60,000-square-foot Raley’s market anchors the 109,550-square-foot shopping center. Architectural firm MGA, Irvine, Calif., designed a Mediterranean look, using stone, colonnades, trellises, roof tiles and exposed rafter tails. The project opened in December 2002.

Diplomat Landing, Hollywood, Fla.

Stiles Retail Group is leasing Diplomat Landing, Hollywood, Fla., a 52,000-square-foot specialty retail and entertainment center on the Intracoastal Waterway at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa. Connected to the resort by a pedestrian skywalk over Ocean Drive, the center includes retail, restaurants and nightclubs. Diplomat Landing’s trade area includes South Florida’s most affluent communities and the heavy tourist traffic generated by the hotel, convention center and spa. The center also has its own boat slips for customers on the Intracoastal Waterway, valet parking and a 1,500-space garage.

The Streets of Tanasbourne, Portland, Ore.

Continental Retail Development, Columbus, Ohio, expects to begin construction this month on The Streets of Tanasbourne, Portland, Ore. The lifestyle center will be located in the heart of an existing 850-acre, mixed-use development. Continental plans to open The Streets of Tanasbourne in the fall of 2004 and already has commitments from Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, Chico’s and Hollister. The center will also feature a 160,000-square-foot Meier & Frank department store, the first to be built in more than 20 years.

The Capitol at Chelsea, New York City

Rose Associates, New York City, is leasing the retail, commercial and residential components of The Capitol at Chelsea, a 37-story building in New York City. Located at the center of the fast-growing Sixth Avenue corridor between 23rd and 34th streets, the Capitol offers ground-floor retail space, as well as 60,000 square feet of office space on three floors and a residential portion with 387 studio-to-two-bedroom rental apartments.

The Shops at Las Americas, San Diego

The Shops at Las Americas, San Diego, has unveiled a renovated Plaza de Estrella (Star Plaza), a partly open-air dining area. Designed as a mixed-use center, the 370,000-square-foot Shops at Las Americas opened in November 2001. It straddles the border between the United States and Mexico. San Diego-based owner LandGrant Development is planning an expansion that will nearly double the center’s size, bringing in such retailers as BCBG, Polo Ralph Lauren and Versace. Further, LandGrant is considering additions of hotel, office and residential space.

The Glen Town Center, Glenview, Ill.

Seven new tenants, totaling more than 14,000 square feet, have signed leases to join The Glen Town Center, Glenview, Ill., a mixed-use development that will open in the fall. The retail and entertainment project is a redevelopment of the former Naval Air Station and spans more than 1 million square feet of space. The center will also have 183 apartments and 154 town houses over the retail space. The new tenants include a 10-screen Crown theater. San Diego-based Oliver McMillan is the developer.

Sunset Crossing, Gainesville, Va.

Regency Centers, Jacksonville, Fla., has opened an office in Washington, D.C., and is expanding its presence in the area. In October it is scheduled to open a 120,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center in Gainesville, Va., called Sunset Crossing, anchored by Shoppers Food Warehouse. Regency also owns four other centers in the area, all in Virginia.

Lincoln Park Center, Chicago

North/Halsted is developing Lincoln Park Center, a 59,500-square-foot retail complex in Chicago. Located at the intersection of Halsted Street and Clybourn and North avenues, the center will be anchored by LaSalle Bank and Borders Books, and will be accessible from the Chicago Transit Authority’s Brown Line elevated track. Lincoln Park Center is slated for a fall completion.

Boulevard Shopping Center, Philadelphia

Lavipour & Co. is redeveloping its Boulevard Shopping Center, Philadelphia, and plans to add the city’s second Target store to the project. Metro Commercial Construction, Mt. Laurel, N.J., which is executing the project, tore down the old A.J. Wright clothing store and cleared away about 209,500 square feet of retail space. Target is scheduled to open this summer.
