Miami-based real estate advisory firm Terranova Corp. recently promoted two employees and hired three others. Erica M. Des Roches was promoted to director of leasing. A Terranova broker for seven years, she is involved in overseeing the leasing and marketing of Terranova’s retail portfolio. Robert Travis was promoted to senior commercial associate. He had spent three years with the company as a commercial associate. Grace Yan was hired as assistant property manager for two properties in Dade County, Fla. Liz Figueroa came aboard as management information systems administrator. Patricia Espinal was hired as the human resources office manager of the Miami office.

Retailer Limited Brands promoted Amy J. Bogart to vice president of stores finance. Bogart, who has held various financial positions with Limited since 1989, is responsible for providing financial leadership and support to drive operational and sales initiatives across the company’s brands.

G. Warren Freeland

Richard Kjellander was promoted to senior financial analyst at real estate service firm Trammell Crow Co. He is responsible for the financial analysis and economic evaluation of build-to-suit and speculative development projects in Florida.

G. Warren Freeland was appointed senior associate and broker-in-charge at CB Richard Ellis Hawaii’s brokerage division in Maui. Freeland will provide commercial real estate brokerage advisory services. He has been active in commercial real estate brokerage and management in Maui since 1990.

Matthew Klutznick was named vice president of Carpenter & Co., Cambridge, Mass. He now directs the operations of the Worthington (Ohio) Mall outside Columbus. Klutznick also oversees centers in New Jersey and Connecticut. Before joining Carpenter, Klutznick was director of retail operations for Chicago’s Midway and O’Hare International airports.

New York City-based developer Thor Equities has hired three new executives. Kurt A. Reich was named executive vice president of acquisitions. He will be responsible for origination and execution of new acquisitions. Dave English was brought in as vice president of construction, and he will oversee all aspects of construction on both existing and future properties. Carl Reggie was hired as director of marketing. He will be responsible for the creation and development of all marketing activities.

Columbus, Ohio-based retail research and consulting firm Retail Forward promoted Lois Huff to senior vice president. She specializes in the development of retailers, supplier market positioning and channel strategies. Huff also serves as the manager of the soft goods track of Retail Forward’s North American intelligence program.

Jeffrey T. Gill, managing principal at MCG Architecture, Irvine, Calif., was named president of the Orange County (Calif.) Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Gill has been at MCG since 1996, and took over management of the Irvine office in 1997. He has overseen the design of retail centers, mixed-use developments and entertainment facilities for the company.

David S. Rapp

David S. Rapp has been hired as land specialist for Grubb & Ellis/Paramount, the Grand Rapids, Mich., office of the international real estate services firm. Before his appointment, Rapp was a real estate consultant for Grand Rapids Real Estate and an associate realtor at Smith-Diamond Realty for six years. Rapp will oversee land searches for Grubb & Ellis clients and handle property transactions.

Architecture and engineering firm Tait & Associates, Santa Ana, Calif., hired Larry Slonim as senior project architect. Slonim had previously worked for 10 years with Greenberg Farrow Architects in Tustin, Calif.

Ken K. Hira

Ken K. Hira was hired as senior director of development at Upland, Calif.-based shopping center developer Lewis Retail Centers, where he is responsible for assisting and developing new neighborhood centers and maintaining client relationships. Before joining Lewis, Hira was vice president of development at Carlsbad, Calif.-based GMS Realty.

Los Angeles-based real estate fund Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund has hired Quincy Allen as vice president. His new position entails identifying new investment opportunities and overseeing existing investments. Before his appointment, Allen was with Lazard Frres Real Estate Investors, where he managed restructured investments in its fund portfolios.

Richard Rizika

Richard Rizika was named top-producing retail sales professional in CB Richard Ellis’ western division for 2002. He also achieved the No. 2 position among retail sales professionals for the company worldwide. Rizika specializes in retailer and ownership advisory services in Los Angeles County. He has advised his clients in more than 970 transactions in excess of $1 billion.

Jeffrey M. Brown Associates, New York City, has named Robert J. Bazewicz New York-area business development manager. He is responsible for developing new business opportunities in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Before this appointment, Bazewicz was managing principal at marketing firm Marketing Strategies.

T. Andrew Hawkins

T. Andrew Hawkins has been named a vice president at Trammell Crow Co.’s Orlando, Fla., office. He now oversees brokerage services for the company’s ExxonMobil and Bank of America accounts across North Florida. Hawkins, who was formerly a site-selection manager for the McDonald’s Corp. in central Florida, will conduct site evaluation, lease negotiation and other services in his new position.

Jones Lang LaSalle named Gregory T. Maloney president of the firm’s Americas retail group. Formerly executive vice president and director of its shopping centers division, Maloney will continue overseeing the management and leasing of the centers. Now he will also be responsible for the overall strategy and growth of Jones Lang LaSalle’s retail group.

Dallas-based real estate services firm The Staubach Co. promoted Elysia Ragusa to president and COO. A 14-year veteran of the company, she is now responsible for Staubach’s day-to-day operations, with oversight of all operational groups, including administrative and support functions. Ragusa was formerly president of Staubach’s real estate services division.

The Macerich Co. promoted Devin Hartley to manager of property management at Holiday Village Mall in Great Falls, Mont. He was formerly assistant manager of property management at Greeley (Colo.) Mall.

Retailer Lerner NY/New York & Co. has appointed John E. DeWolf III to the newly created position of executive vice president of real estate. DeWolf directs real estate strategy, site selection and acquisition, store planning and construction for the apparel chain. He joined Lerner from New England Development, where he was senior vice president.

Peter Aamodt has been hired by Stirling Properties, Covington, La., as director of development. His responsibilities include evaluating, managing and coordinating strategies for single tenant, build-to-suit development. Before assuming this new position, Aamodt was director of development for Safeguard Storage Properties, in New Orleans.

National consulting firm Carter & Burgess, Fort Worth, Texas, promoted three executives. Phillip A. Pryor, vice president and national director of retail stores and unit manager of the company’s Fort Worth retail and distribution group, was elected a principal of the company. Edward Green, a program manager in the retail & distribution division and Dennis Lang, the company’s civil discipline leader, were elected as associates.

The Macerich Co. has promoted Tim Gibbons from assistant vice president to the new position of vice president of leasing in the Westcor Region. Gibbons, who now works out of the Phoenix office, directs permanent leasing activities of all eight mall properties in the area.

Sam Hosn

Sam Hosn has been hired as general manager at Simon Property Group’s The Town Center at Boca Raton (Fla.). Hosn previously managed eight properties in five states for Simon. He has been with the company since 1998.

Edens & Avant, Columbia, S.C., recently promoted two employees. Jerry M. Matelski was promoted to vice president of asset management for the Northeast portfolio. He formerly managed 22 New England shopping centers that Edens & Avant acquired in 1999 as well as the company’s portfolio in Florida. Maria Smith was promoted to vice president and controller from director of property accounting. She is now responsible for all consolidated financial reporting, property accounting and joint venture accounting. Smith has been with Edens & Avant since 1993.

Washington, D.C.-based real estate services firm Spaulding & Slye Colliers promoted Daniel Cordeau and Jill A. Mazanec to senior vice president. The company also promoted Jefferey P. Frengel, Arthur Frye, Pushpa Gowda, Thomas J. Hamill, Christopher S. Molivadas, James Murty, Lisa S. Serafin and John Thomas to vice president.

Joseph Ginex

Joseph Ginex was promoted to assistant vice president of acquisitions at Port Washington, N.Y.-based community center owner Acadia Realty Trust. Ginex is the point man for property submissions that come from brokerage firms. He has been with Acadia for four years and was formerly with Prudential Securities.

Washington, D.C.-area developer Walter L. Phillips has promoted Jeffrey J. Stuchel to president and Brian G. Baillargeon to senior vice president. They were both formerly principals with the company.

Developers Diversified Realty Corp. hired Eric Julian as business development manager. Julian’s responsibility is to generate ancillary revenue at the company’s centers by leasing telecommunications equipment, deploying automated teller machines and through billboard, advertising and other programs. Before joining Developers Diversified, he was a specialty leasing sales representative for The Richard E. Jacobs Group.

Columbus, Ohio-based retail consulting firm Retail Forward hired two new vice presidents. Dirk Defenbaugh was taken on as vice president of business development and is responsible for consulting sales in the Western United States and Asia. Before joining Retail Forward, he led the marketing and services group at Retail Planning Associates. In her vice president role, Mandy Putnam will direct consumer research projects. Before she joined Retail Forward, Putnam was director of research and planning at the Cordiant Communications Group.

Three staff members of Seattle-based Callison Architecture were promoted to principal. Thomas Bowan is managing the company’s New York City operations and is responsible for design services, client relationships, business development and account management for East Coast retail programs. He has been with Callison for seven years. Steve Harmon is managing the development of the mixed-use Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue, Wash., and has been with the company for 18 years. Ro Shroff is working with General Growth Properties on its expansion of Alderwood Mall, Lynwood, Wash., and its West Des Moines, Iowa, retail-entertainment project Jordan Creek Town Center. Meanwhile, the company hired John Cochran as director of technical resources.

Cathy Erickson

Wichita, Kan.-based commercial real estate company Laham Development named Cathy Erickson vice president. Erickson will oversee asset management and project development. Her other responsibilities include administration, marketing coordination and public relations.

Shane Kavanagh was promoted to vice president of specialty retail by Cincinnati-based FRCH Design Worldwide. He now works for specialty retail clients, adapting site designs, producing construction documents, and providing construction administration services. Kavanagh has been with the firm for 10 years.
