JANE HALL WINS CADILLAC FAIRVIEW’S ARC AWARD

Cadillac Fairview has awarded this year’s $50,000 ARC (Achievement in New Retail Concepts) Award to Jane Hall and Ian Levack, principals of Jane Hall: The Voice of Color, a new interior design and custom home furnishings store located in Toronto’s Pape and Danforth area.

This marked the company’s fifth annual ARC award. The prize was handed over by Peter Sharpe, Cadillac Fairview’s president and CEO, at a ceremony in February.

“We were very impressed by the quality of candidates in this year’s ARC Awards” he said, in an announcement released after the ceremony. “Clearly retail in Canada is alive with dynamic new ideas and concepts.” The three judges were Aldo Bensadoun, CEO and founder of The Aldo Group, the footwear retailer; Diane J. Brisebois, president and CEO of the Retail Council of Canada; and Jeffrey Wortsman, president and CEO of Danier Leather, the apparel and accessories retailer.

Jane Hall: The Voice of Color was one of four finalists that were selected from more than 50 entries. The other three finalists included: The Art of Hardware of Calgary, Alberta; Snap-on based in Sherway Gardens, Etobicoke, Ontario; and Upholstery Arts of Vancouver, British Columbia.

To be eligible for the 2002 ARC Awards, candidates had to be retailers operating in Canada who had launched a significant and innovative concept between April 3, 2000 and Oct. 30, 2001.

Cadillac Fairview owns and manages retail centers and office properties in Canada and the United States and also oversees equity investments in real estate companies and international investment funds. With a portfolio valued at over $11 billion, the company and its affiliates own and manage well over 100 properties. Cadillac is wholly owned by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board.
