EUROPEAN AWARDS PRESENTED IN ITALY

Centers in Great Britain, Holland and Iceland received top honors at the European Shopping Centre Awards, presented at ICSC’s 26th annual European Conference and Exhibition in Turin, Italy, in late March.

Entries are judged by a panel of experts in shopping center development, architecture, marketing, management, leasing and real estate consulting.

In the New Centres — Large category, the European Shopping Centre Award was given to The Oracle, Reading, U.K., developed by Hammerson PLC and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

In the New Centres — Small category, the European Shopping Centre Award was given to Marienburg, Nijmegen, Holland, developed by ING Real Estate Development Department and Nijmegen Town Council.

In the Refurbishments category, the award was won by Kringlan, Reykjavik, Iceland, developed by Thyrping Ltd. Full details will appear in SCT’s June issue.

Next year’s European Conference will be held April 23-26, 2002, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
