Melanie Malfour Heywood joined The Macerich Co. as senior vice president of development. The firm also hired Frank Lucia as senior manager of Freehold (N.J.) Raceway Mall. CBL & Associates Properties promoted Robert Snetman to senior director of peripheral property. A 12-year company veteran, Snetman most recently served as director of corporate sponsorship and branding. The Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce named Paul Rutledge, president of RRC Property Advisors, an Orlando, Fla.-based development firm, Business Person of the Year for 2005. New Albany, Ohio-based Too Inc. hired Alan J. Hochman as senior vice president in real estate and toy planning. Hochman, a former real estate executive at Gap Inc. and Rite Aid Corp., will handle site selction for the retailer’s Limited Too and Justice chains. Houston-based Stage Stores, a specialty department store chain named Andrew Hall president and COO. Hall was chairman of Foley’s, a division of Federated Department Stores. Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen Co. named William M. Handal senior vice president of Eastern store operations. Ted Williams was named vice president of nonfoods merchandising at Carteret, N.J.-based Pathmark Stores. Forest City Commercial Development hired Paulette T. Caputo to serve as director of marketing for 14 of its properties. Prior to joining Forest City, Caputo was a vice president of marketing for Urban Retail Properties Co.’s corporate marketing department. Toys ‘R’ Us appointed Gerald L. Storch chairman and CEO. Storch was vice chairman of Target Corp. He replaces interim CEO Rick Markee, who resumes his posts as vice chairman of Toys ‘R’ Us and president of Babies ‘R’ Us. The Goodman Co., a West Palm Beach, Fla.-based regional shopping center developer, appointed Gary K. Housman senior manager of development. Landtrack, a Skokie, Ill.-based real estate brokerage firm, recruited Brad Friedman as a leasing and investment sales representative. Calkain Cos., a Reston, Va., real estate brokerage firm, named David Sobelman a vice president. He will manage Calkain Realty Advisors, the private markets division. Friedman Real Estate Group, based in Farmington Hills, Mich., named Eric Levy leasing manager for its Columbus, Ohio, properties. Jeff Straka is the new vice president of Staubach Retail’s Southern California region. Straka has worked in the real estate departments at Kinko’s, Starbucks and, most recently, The Vitamin Shoppe. Brian Kelley joined Koman Properties, a St. Louis, Mo.-based development firm, as real estate manager. Lawrenceville, N.J.-based Edison Venture Fund promoted Michael Helmicki to partner. Lester M. Bliwise joined the New York City office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, an Atlanta-based law firm, as a partner in the real estate practice group. Alan J. Barocas retired from his position as the senior vice president of real estate at Gap Inc. after 25 years with the company. Richard Arroyo joined San Diego-based brokerage firm GVA IPC as president of its commercial mortgage services division The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, appointed James E. Maurin, CSM, an entrepreneur in residence for the spring term. Maurin is chairman of Covington, La.-based development firm Stirling Properties and an ICSC past chairman.
