ARONOV, NORTH AMERICAN PROPERTIES PLAN NEW PROJECTS IN GA.

Aronov Realty Management has announced plans for a shopping center in Greensboro, Greene County, Ga. The center, the first phase of the 600-acre Lake Oconee Village mixed-use development, will be anchored by a 44,271-square-foot Publix Super Market. An additional 12,000 square feet of shop space will flank both sides of the Publix, offering shoppers a range of convenience retailing, food, personal and professional services. Montgomery, Ala.-based Aronov, one of the largest privately owned real estate companies in the Southeast, with more than 100 properties, expects to complete the project by October. Shopping center specialist firm CMH Architects, Birmingham, Ala., is designing the center using stone and wood complemented by lush landscaping.

Meanwhile North American Properties, Cincinnati, is designing a new retail center in Atlanta’s Forsyth County. The 75,000-square-foot center, called Cruse MarketPlace, will be anchored by a Publix, which will account for 43,000 square feet. The balance of the center will comprise smaller shops and five outparcels.

The project will feature a Main Street look, with a faux second story. North American has also begun building the $90 million Camp Creek Marketplace, a 750,000-square-foot shopping center in South Fulton County, Ga., scheduled to open in the spring of 2003. Camp Creek, which will bring premier national retailers to residents of South Fulton and the city of East Point, will have 11 anchors, including Target, and eight restaurant outparcels. Its architecture and landscaping will share some similarities with the Mall of Georgia near Atlanta, according to the developer. North American has nearly 3 million square feet under development in the region and is planning two more large retail projects and an additional two grocery-anchored centers there by year-end 2002.
