WEB SITE GETS MAKEOVER

The ICSC Web site is undergoing the most far-reaching revamp since its 1996 inception.

The Web site design team, which began work in October, officially launched the new site Feb. 1, and is continuing to make improvements designed to make it more useful, easier to navigate and more attractive.

"You can get to where you want to go faster and easier," said Michael Donovan, ICSC’s Internet technology and security specialist, who worked on the site with two other team members: David Brand, content specialist and Web coordinator; and Tatiana Sindalovskaia, Web design and information architect.

Not only has the team improved the site’s appearance and design, they also have made it more versatile and useful. For instance, thanks to new drop-down menus, users can get directly to the areas of the site they are interested in, and are no longer forced to take circuitous routes through other areas.

The new site also offers a lot more features. Instead of just listing meetings by date, members can search for them by region or by category. Moreover, they can arrange to be automatically prompted with an e-mail when ICSC staff begin taking reservations for those meetings.

"It now conforms to industry standards," Brand said, adding that work will continue on other parts of the site this year. "We’ve still got a ways to go."
