A town center for Livingston, N.J.

Three New Jersey developers plan to build a 70,000-square-foot lifestyle center they describe as the new downtown for Livingston, N.J. The Livingston Town Center, by Clifton-based Jacobs Enterprises, Livingston-based Eastman Cos. and Short Hills-based Roseland Property Co., will contain 50,000 square feet of upscale retail, 20,000 square feet of second-floor office space, and 114 luxury homes. The center is slated to open sometime in the third quarter.

Mills redeveloping Del Amo

The Mills Corp. is redeveloping the north wing of the 2.1 million-square-foot Del Amo Fashion Center, in Torrance, Calif. Mills has already demolished the old portion of the center (the site of a former Montgomery Ward store) and will build an open-air lifestyle-entertainment center in its place. The redevelopment calls for a 16-screen AMC cinema, a day spa, some upscale restaurants and a gourmet food market. In late December Mills sold a 50 percent stake in Del Amo to JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management in a joint venture deal. The proceeds will help Mills finance the project.

Poag opens Conn. lifestyle center

Lifestyle center specialist Poag & McEwen, Memphis, Tenn., unveiled the first phase of The Shops at Evergreen Walk, South Windsor, Conn., in October. The center offers 285,000 square feet of space and includes retailers Adrienne Vittadini and Anthropologie as well as eateries Cold Stone Creamery, Johnny Rockets and Quiznos. The second and final phase is slated to open in May 2006.

Colonial building Alabama center

Colonial Properties Trust, Birmingham, Ala., is building the Colonial Pinnacle at Craft Farms, a 285,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Gulf Shores, Ala. The tenant lineup will include a 14-screen Cobb cinema slated to open in May.

Neighborhood center coming to Bossier City, La.

Rand Falbaum, a developer in Bossier City, La., is teaming up with three private investors to build a local 70,000-square-foot neighborhood center called Market Place Shoppes, according to The Shreveport Times. The $6 million project will feature a mix of national and local tenants, such as Petco and McAllister’s Deli, and is slated to open in September.

Pinellas Park, Fla., to get mixed-use project

Boulder Venture South, Clearwater, Fla., is redeveloping the 780,000-square-foot ParkPlace Mall into the Shoppes at Park Place, a mixed-use community center in Pinellas Park, Fla., that is to house 560,000 square feet of retail and 116 town homes. The anchors will be A.J. Wright, American Signature Furniture, Michael’s, Office Depot, a 16-screen RC cinema and a 135,000-square-foot Target, says John Sabow, Boulder Venture’s director of development. The cinema is slated to reopen this month, and the redevelopment in its entirety will open in October.

Davie, Fla., center to open this fall

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Stiles Corp. is at work on a 275,000-square-foot community center called Lakeside Town Shops, in Davie, Fla. A 185,000-square-foot Target Superstore will anchor the project, which is also to include a grocery store and 68,875 square feet of in-line store space. Stiles expects to complete the project in the fall.

Avon Commons

Carnegie Management and Development Corp. is expanding Avon (Ind.) Commons, a 480,000-square-foot community center onto an adjacent four-acre site, according to the Indianapolis Star. The expansion will comprise a freestanding T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant and a 19,000-square-foot retail building housing such tenants as Chipotle Mexican Grill, S&K Menswear and RadioShack.
