NIEMIRA PICKED TO HEAD ICSC RESEARCH

Michael P. Niemira has joined ICSC as chief economist and director of research. Niemira was vice president and senior economist at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, New York City, where he produced the widely read Weekly Chain Store Sales Snapshot, a retail sales monitor, and the monthly Retail Trends. He will continue to track retail sales at ICSC. He will also be responsible for the overall design, implementation and dissemination of ICSC’s research projects worldwide, as well as for guiding the association’s forecasting activities. Before Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Niemira worked for Chemical Bank, Merrill Lynch and PaineWebber. He has received the A.G. Abramson Award from the National Association for Business Economics and has been awarded honorary faculty membership by the St. John’s University chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon. Over the years, Niemira was an adjunct instructor at New York University’s Stern Graduate School of Business and at the New York Institute of Finance.
