MACERICH CO. RENOVATES FRESNO FASHION FAIR

The Macerich Co. has overhauled the 874,000-square-foot Fresno (Calif.) Fashion Fair mall, putting in skylights and stone-textured flooring and reconfiguring the food court.

GGP FIXING UP SAN JOSE MALL

General Growth Properties is renovating the 1.3 million-square-foot Eastridge Mall, San Jose, Calif., converting the south side into a streetscape area with lifestyle tenants. The center’s interior will also be renovated next year.

HUNTINGTON BEACH CENTER GETS FACE-LIFT FROM METCON

Real estate services firm Metcon is restoring Peter’s Landing, a 63,000-square-foot open-air center in Huntington Beach, Calif., about 35 miles south of Los Angeles. An upscale grocer and restaurant will anchor the center. The renovation is scheduled for completion in the spring.

NEW TENANTS FOR LAS AMERICAS

The Shops at Las Americas has added to its retail roster. The new tenants are Kids Music Jukebox, a kiosk that personalizes CDs for children; Princesa, a wedding store; Shoe Studio; a Vans shoe store; and a UETA Duty Free store. The 370,000-square-foot outlet center, owned by LandGrant Development, is in San Ysidro, Calif., about 70 miles northeast of San Diego.

CHULA VISTA PROJECT OPENS

Sudberry Properties opened EastLake Village Marketplace, a 410,000-square-foot community center in Chula Vista, Calif., about eight miles south of San Diego. Target and Lowe’s anchor the $50 million center.

DONAHUE SCHRIBER BUYS STRIP

Donahue Schriber paid Bixby Land Co. $17.5 million for the Borondo Plaza, Salinas, Calif. The 92,316-square-foot grocery-anchored center has a Food 4 Less. It is part of the Williams Ranch master-planned community, about 105 miles south of San Francisco. The purchase marks Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Donahue Schriber’s entry into Monterey County. The company has also completed a $2.9 million renovation of Clairemont Town Square, a 510,000-square-foot lifestyle center in San Diego.

SAN MARCOS BUILDING CENTER

The city of San Marcos (Calif.) is developing Creekside Market Place, a community center about 35 miles north of San Diego slated to open in July. Best Buy, Lowe’s and Staples will anchor the 270,000-square-foot center. Smith Consulting Architects and Whiting-Turning Contracting Co. are involved in the project. Smith Consulting is also helping developer Thomas Enterprises build a 176,000-square-foot neighborhood center called The Pavilion La Quinta (Calif.), about 130 miles east of Los Angeles.

OPEN-AIR CENTER FOR RIVERSIDE

The Kennedy Co. is building Riverside Plaza, a 500,000-square-foot open-air center in Riverside, Calif., about 55 miles east of Los Angeles. The center will feature a Main Street-style portion, anchored by a 3,300-seat Signature theater, a community center with a 141,330-square-foot Harris/Gottschalks department store, and a neighborhood center with a Vons Market. The developer expects to open the center in November.

DALY CITY MALL REMODEL COMPLETE

Developer Capital and Counties has completed a $3.5 million interior remodeling of the 826,000-square-foot Serramonte Center, Daly City, Calif., about eight miles south of San Francisco. The renovation incorporates Asian feng shui design.

ROSEVILLE LIFESTYLE CENTER UNDER WAY

Developer Peter Bollinger Investment Co. and brokerage firm Retail West plan to build a 349,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Roseville, Calif., about 20 miles north of Sacramento. They plan to break ground by the end of the year and open in the fall of 2005.

SAN DIMAS TOWN CENTER EXPANDS

Marketplace Properties expects the first tenants to open next month in the 51,000-square-foot second phase of its San Dimas (Calif.) Town Center, a grocery-anchored center about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. The first phase was a 56,379-square-foot Albertsons that opened in February 2003.

STOCKTON COMMUNITY CENTER

Kitchell Development Co. broke ground on Park West Place, a 700,000-square-foot community center, in Stockton, Calif., about 80 miles east of San Francisco. Its anchors will include Borders and Target. The center is scheduled to open in April.
