JACOBS BUILDING FLORIDA CENTER

The Richard E. Jacobs Group plans to build Cypress Creek Town Center, a 1.5 million-square-foot open-air center in Tampa, Fla. Cypress Creek will be part of a major mixed-use development containing retail, hotel, office and residential space. Jacobs is buying the land for an undisclosed amount from Sierra Properties, the Tampa-based master-planned communities developer building the surrounding project. The developers plan to open Cypress Creek in 2007 and the rest of the project in 2011, but have announced no ground-breaking date yet.

RREEF BUYING N.J. LIFESTYLE CENTER

RREEF says that in March it expects to complete the acquisition of City Place, a lifestyle center under construction in Edgewater, N.J., across the Hudson River from New York City. The 158,000-square-foot center, under development by Edgewater Enterprises, will include Gap, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers and Victoria’s Secret.

JAFFE RENOVATING FLORIDA PROJECT

Jaffe Corp. is renovating the 150,000-square-foot Trails Shopping Center, Ormond Beach, Fla., about 60 miles north of Orlando. The developer expects to complete the job sometime next year. Ann Taylor Loft, Chico’s and Talbots have already opened at the center, which is being renovated to look like a Mediterranean Village.

REGENCY TO BUILD IN PLANO

Regency Centers plans to break ground this spring on Signature Plaza, a grocery-anchored center of about 90,000 square feet in Plano, Texas, about 20 miles north of Dallas. Kroger will anchor the center, tentatively scheduled for completion by year-end.

DDR PLANS DENVER CENTER

Developers Diversified Realty Corp. and a local development firm are planning a 275-acre mixed-use project in the Denver suburb of Broomfield that will include more than 1 million square feet of retail. The development, called Palisade Park, will cost $500 million to build, according to local media reports. DDR has specified no ground-breaking date, but is aiming for a 2005 opening.

COUSINS STARTS FIFTH ‘AVENUE’

Cousins Properties has started construction on the fifth in its “Avenue” series of themed lifestyle centers. The Avenue Viera (Fla.), a $57 million, 415,000-square-foot project going up in Brevard County, east of Orlando, is being built in partnership with Matthew Development.

GGP ADDING RETAIL TO TOLEDO AREA

General Growth Properties is building the 1 million-square-foot, open-air Shops at Fallen Timbers, a lifestyle center in Maumee, Ohio, about 10 miles south of Toledo. The company says it expects to open the project in the summer of 2005, though it has not set a ground-breaking date.

ANDERSON BUILDING LIFESTYLE CENTER

Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate has broken ground on the $70 million, 420,000-square-foot Algonquin (Ill.) Commons lifestyle center in suburban Chicago. It is slated to open in October.
