TrizecHahn said it plans to eventually sell all its retail properties and its Canadian and European office holdings, enabling it to focus on two areas of its business—its United States office portfolio and its development of technology centers. ...A mother's e-mail complaint prompted J.C. Penney to pull shirts from its store shelves bearing the word "Wazzzuuuup?" because of the slogan's similarity to Budweiser's "Whassup?!" advertising campaign. ...Taubman Centers has teamed with Dr. Hava Schaver, a clinical psychologist, to produce an interactive stress-relief CD for holiday shoppers. The first 1,000 shoppers at each of the REIT's 27 centers on Nov. 24 received the CDs. Others will be given out sporadically throughout the rest of the season. ...Mall of America (MOA) will be home of a new game show entitled "Mall Masters" that will have at least a 65-show run on the Game Show Network next year. Also at MOA, General Mills has unveiled plans to build an attraction called Cereal Adventure that will open in June 2001. The site will "feature a variety of exciting activities that celebrate cereal," according to a release from the company. ...Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina and Wisconsin are experimenting with software designed to capture sales taxes on Internet purchases this Christmas with a handful of businesses participating in each state. The software calculates the sales tax for each purchase and charges each consumer's credit card. The software vendor then collects the money and returns it to the proper state. ...In the wake of last year's Christmas debacle when Toysrus.com was unable to deliver all of its orders on time, the company offered its customers free shipping for a limited time in November on all orders of $100 or more. ...Before full construction of the three-block area that will become Philadelphia's new Independence Mall, mass archeological excavations are taking place to investigate the area. The district was home to government dignitaries in the 18th century. ...In Montréal a group called l´anti-Nöel avant l´temps (No Christmas Before Its Time) used paint and eggs to battle stores it felt put holiday decorations up too early. In an anonymous letter the group wrote, "We demand that you take down all decorations until Dec. 1st. If not, you will be hit," according to Canada's National Post.
