Urban's Galleria at Roseville opens tomorrow

Capping off what has been a busy month for shopping center openings, Chicago-based Urban Shopping Centers steps to the forefront with its latest offering, the 1.1 million-sf Galleria at Roseville (Calif.), which opens tomorrow morning at 10 a.m..

The center opens 99% leased and will feature more than 120 retailers as well as the following anchors: a 144,000-sf Nordstrom, 180,000-sf Macy's, 126,33-sf J.C. Penney and 150,529-sf Sears. The center is part of a new breed of hybrid shopping centers, such as Simon Property Group's Mall of Georgia and Westcor Properties' FlatIron Crossing, Bloomfield, Colo., that also opened this month. Such centers are marked by their mix of open-air entertainment zones adjoining a mall traditional regional mall. At Roseville, the open-air section is called The Promenade.

The outdoor pedestrian street scape features stores and upscale restaurants with outdoor seating. The Promenade will also include a fountain, a children's play area, a fireplace and more than 100 bronze sculptures of animals designed by the A.R.T. Design Group, Lancaster, Pa. A 120-ft tower in the center will provide a view of the Promenade. The center will also feature a carousel.

Some retailers making their debut in the Sacremento area include Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, J. Crew, Abercrombie & Fitch (and its children's spin-off abercrombie), Finish Line, American Eagle Outfitters, Coach, Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, J.Jill, Aveda, BCBG and Yankee Candle, among others.
