The world’s biggest H&M store opened today in New York City, on Fifth Avenue and 48th Street. The 57,000-square-foot store marks the first time the chain’s U.S. customers will be able to shop all of H&M’s product categories under one roof. Departments include cosmetics, lingerie and home decor, and the store offers a free personal shopping service. The store’s reign as H&M’s largest will be short-lived, however: The retailer plans to open an even larger store — a 63,000-square-foot behemoth in New York City’s Herald Square — later this year. A crowd of hundreds was lined up out front waiting for the doors to open at noon.
