Shopping Center Terrorism Awareness Training Program | |
The International Council of Shopping Centers has collaborated with George Washington University's Homeland
Security Policy Institute to create a comprehensive Shopping Center Terrorism Awareness Training course. This
intensive course is designed to train security personnel with Recognition, Avoidance,
Isolation and Notification techniques (RAIN) when confronted with weapons of mass
destruction. The training course is delivered by DVD and over the Internet. Students must be logged onto the
Internet to open, register and complete the course. This will also allow George Washington University's instructors
to keep and track a student's progress and give the courses administrators the information they need to process and
distribute certificates of completion. Once a student registers, they will have 30 days to complete the course;
students should be able to complete the entire course in 14 hours.
The ICSC/George Washington University Terrorism Awareness Training Course is for security guards and security
supervisors and is not intended for management personnel. The course is designed to meet the requirements for
"First Responders Awareness Level" training established by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
The Terrorism Awareness Training course is comprised of 10 learning modules:
Module 1: Program Introduction
Module 2: National Incident Management System and the National Response Plan
Module 3: The History and Threat of Terrorism
