Schurgin Family Foundation Scholarship

APPLICATION

The Schurgin Family Foundation Scholarship was established in 2008 to provide tuition assistance to undergraduate students who are studying retail real estate or a related field. Applicants for this scholarship must demonstrate academic excellence as the scholarship is intended to help qualified students pursue an education that will lead them into productive careers in commercial real estate. The Schurgin’s have been active ICSC members since 1979 and have maintained an unwavering commitment to the communities in which they do business. Their company is The Festival Companies based in Los Angeles, CA. This annual scholarship is the Schurgin Family Foundation’s legacy, giving back to an industry that brought them so much joy and success.

ABOUT THE SCHURGIN FAMILY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

The $5,000 Schurgin Scholarship is available to a full time undergraduate student indicating a preference for a career in retail real estate, real estate development or shopping center leasing.

Because the ICSC Foundation and the Schurgin family realize the importance of networking to a student’s professional development and the added value of public recognition to success, this scholarship also covers the cost of attending the annual award ceremony at the RECon conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in May 2010.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The applicant must be an U.S. Citizen who is or will be a junior or senior undergraduate degree seeking candidate enrolled in the 2010 fall academic term at an accredited college or university. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required.

AWARDS

The $5,000 scholarship award check will be distributed directly to the university’s financial aid office. The funds will be applied to tuition and related fees in accordance with university policies. The cost of attending the awards ceremony at RECon 2010 including registration, air, hotel and approved expenses are also included as part of the Schurgin Scholarship and are handled through the Foundation. All applications are confidential and will be reviewed by the ICSC Foundation Scholarship Judging Committee and ICSC staff only.
