The ICSC Foundation established the John T. Riordan Professional Education Scholarship in 2004 to encourage professional education and to further career development of retail real estate professionals. These scholarships enable young professionals to attend the International Council of Shopping Centers’ (ICSC) professional development schools at no cost.
John T. Riordan joined ICSC in 1982 and was promoted to President in 1986. When he retired in 2001 he held the post of President and CEO. This program honors Mr. Riordan’s commitment to education and his extraordinary legacy.
This scholarship allows the recipient to choose his or her curriculum of choice from the John T. Riordan School for Professional Development. Areas of concentration include Management, Marketing and Leasing at a technical level or at a strategic level and Development, Design and Construction at a technical level.
The Scholarship covers enrollment fees, textbooks, workbooks, airfare and hotel accommodations. One scholarship will be awarded to a non-U.S. based professional to attend an ICSC school outside of the U.S. This scholarship includes attendance at an award ceremony, should there be one.
An applicant may be new to retail real estate and looking to expand his or her knowledge of management, marketing, leasing or development, design and construction. An applicant may also be an individual changing their area of interest in the industry.
Individuals studying for their Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS), Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM), Certified Marketing Director (CMD) or the Certified Development, Design & Construction Professional (CDP) designations receive credit for work experience after completion of certain courses.
Visit www.icsc.org/JTRschool for specific curriculum information.
